Not too long ago, I passed the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) Exam [CLF-C02]. I wanted to start applying for jobs involving Cloud. However having relatively little experience, I didn’t want to crush my ambitions early on by attempting a challenging exam. Seeing as the CCP exam was a foundational level certificate, I wanted to give myself an early win. I wanted to pass this first time and get the ball rolling. So I sought a way to quickly learn the content and how to tackle the exam. In this post, I will save you the hassle of doing all the research on how to pass. I will give you the most important resources I used to easily pass the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner in just 5 days.
Prerequisites for Cloud Practitioner
Before starting this course, I had no experience with AWS at all. I created an account and never got around to actually implementing anything. So you can indeed follow my steps and you will have a high chance of passing the exam.
Searching For a Solution (A Free One)
After searching for a while, I came across lots of different courses and content I could use to start preparing. While there was a lot of paid content, there was also a lot of free stuff. So I went ahead and read the reviews for it all and checked out what Reddit had to say. I ended up stumbling upon a free cloud course provided by the freecodecamp YouTube channel.
I have already used this channel in the past to learn about other topics and the content is quite good. So I took this as a sign that this course might be just what I need.
Reviewing the Content
I skimmed over the video and after reading tons of comments, I was satisfied that this was exactly what I was looking for.
The video I am referring to is:
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification Course (CLF-C02) – Pass the Exam!
This video by Andrew Brown (An enthusiastic teacher of cloud technologies) single-handedly provides all the knowledge needed for the exam. He makes it easy to follow by splitting the video into sections where he explains key concepts such as:
-
- What content could be in the exam?
-
- What style of questions should you expect?
-
- Detailed explanations of core AWS functionalities and services.
-
- What certification path should you take following completion of this cert based on your goals?
Revising What You’ve Learnt
So while all the content is there, this is a nearly 15-hour video and unless you have insane recall, you simply won’t remember everything you’ve watched. But you will still need a way to review key concepts.
It is up to you whether you prefer to take handwritten notes or digital ones. All I did was simply screenshot key slides and review them afterwards and it was as simple as that. But, if you absorb things better when you actually write the notes then go ahead and do what works best for you.

Referenced Content In The Video
Some links are shown throughout the video which Andrew briefly discusses. I think it is worthwhile to go to these pages and review the content there. This will give you a better general understanding of the topics discussed and strengthen your fundamental knowledge of AWS.
Practice Exams To Test Your Skills
So now that you’ve covered the video content and made some notes. It’s time to put your skills to the test.
If you go to the ExamProCo website co-founded by Andrew Brown and sign up. You can get one free practice exam with questions similar to that of the exam.
If you do this paper and completely ace it. I think you’re pretty much good to go. I think I was very close to passing when I completed it. Any topic that you come across in that exam and can’t remember anything about at all, review that topic in your notes.
I really didn’t want to spend more money on practice papers, especially as I felt I was very close to being able to pass the exam. But at the same time, I didn’t want to risk taking it and wasting my money. So I tried to find some more free exam-style questions to practice with. This is when I found this super useful resource with tons of papers to do. While not exactly as interactive as the ExamProCo paper. These were more than enough to help me gain confidence in taking the exam.
The practice exams I am referring to can be found at AWS CCP Practice Exams in a GitHub repository.
My 5-Day Approach
Days 1-3:
- To quickly get through all the content. I watched the video on between 1.25-1.75x speed depending on how focused I was at the time. This allowed me to get through around nearly 5 hours of content per day. So by Day 3, I had covered all the content and had my key slide screenshots taken.
Day 4:
- I reviewed all the slides and sat the ExamProCo free Certified Cloud Practitioner practice exam. Then I followed this up with 2 practice exams from the free exam repository I found.
Day 5:
- I reviewed my notes again and covered 3 more practice exams. By this point, I felt confident and ready for my exam that was booked for the following day.
Conclusion
By following the steps I’ve outlined, you should be well-prepared to pass the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) exam in no time. However, just because I did it in 5 days doesn’t mean you should. You can take more time and let the concepts sink in which may allow you to retain more, I only did this because my goal is to do more certs back-to-back. Another thing to consider is that I come from a tech background, so if you’re new to IT, I think it’s perfectly fine to spend a little extra time studying the basics. That said, this exam doesn’t dive too deep into technical details, so don’t stress—you’ve got this!
On another note, if you enjoy my tech-focused posts, drop a comment and let me know! I’m happy to shift my focus to more tech-related content if that’s what provides the most value to you. I’ll also be taking other AWS certifications in the future, so if you find this helpful, I’ll share my approach and tips for those exams as well.
